I grew up in Norwalk, CA on a small farm in the city. I attended and graduated from Cypress College and California State University Fullerton. While in college I worked as a Community Service Officer for the University Police on my campus.
I was recruited by the Mesa Police Department, and moved to Mesa, AZ in 1992. I served our community for 27 years and retired as a Police Sergeant in 2018. I then served 2 more years as a volunteer Reserve Officer, frequently filling in as a School Resource Officer.
I now own and operate a small business, Little American Tractor Service.
Statement:
I am motivated to run for office because I am frustrated with how our representatives vote and fail to act to protect us. Our current Senator does not uphold our values. My life of service as a Police Officer in the community, and being consistently involved in the community gives me a great foundation to look out for us. We need honesty and integrity in government now more than ever and I feel I have a responsibility to protect, serve, and defend our values.
Supporting parents & students is one of my three main priorities because of my daughter’s education experience. I am further connected to this priority because of my experience as a non-profit school board member and my time working as a School Resource Officer.
Students thrive with two key ingredients: involved parents and a learning environment that meets their needs. While we were raising our daughters, I worried about making sure they were prepared for life, and education was a big part. I want schools to focus first on the basics of education like reading, writing and math. I do not want our schools resources going to propaganda and indoctrination of our children.
I want schools that are responsive to students and parents’ needs. We need to support parents so they can be engaged in their childs education and we need to ensure students have the right learning environment. All education options have merit and every student needs something different.
As a student who attended both public and private schools and a father who utilized open enrollment and school options for my daughters, and as a school board member of a non-profit public charter school, I support education options like the ESA program.
One size doesnt fit all and families should be able to access what works for their child, regardless of where they live or how much money they make. I am going to protect this for any family that needs it. As a former School Resource Officer, I have experience with school safety. Ensuring our students are safe in the classroom will be a critical priority.
